Invitation Into the Forest
Nourished by Nature ~ Forest Connection Experiences
Public and Private Journeys | San Luis Obispo County, CA
Reconnect with your “inner nature” through the wisdom of the forest.
You are invited to a unique mini-retreat—a journey designed for inner peace, clarity, and well-being. This is an opportunity to step away from the rush of daily life and fill your “well” through the restorative practice of Shinrin Yoku (Forest Bathing).
As your guide, I invite you to practice the essentials of mindfulness and self-care through a unique experience of mindfulness, meandering, and meditation. Together, we will attune to the forest through all of our senses, finding grounding and resonance amongst a supportive network of trees.
Let nature be your teacher. Use your “time out” in the forest to spark new discoveries during your “time in” to yourself. Whether you join us for a single afternoon or make these retreats a regular practice, you will experience firsthand how nature can nourish your soul and provide a robust foundation for resilience, health, and happiness.

Forest Bathing and the Trees
Shinrin Yoku, or “forest bathing,” is the practice of immersing yourself in nature in a deeply mindful way. Emerging from Japan in the 1980s as a response to the stresses of modern life, this “ecotherapy” invite us to slow down and bridge the gap between our busy minds and the restorative rhythm of the natural world. It is not a hike or a workout; it is a sensory immersion—a “bathing” in the atmosphere of the forest.
Trees offer a unique kind of companionship. Their energy is slower, deeper, and more grounded than the hectic pace of our daily lives. When we sit among them, we begin to resonate with their natural vibration of stability and security.
By simply being present with the trees, we allow their stillness to settle our own “mental fog,” helping us to feel more centered, secure, and spiritually nourished. In the company of the forest, we remember that we are not separate from nature, but an essential part of its living, breathing tapestry.
Note from Dee: Just as a singing bowl clears a room with its vibration, a forest clears the soul with its silence.

The Harmony of Nature Connection
Extensive research into “green space” and forest bathing consistently shows that when we reconnect with the earth, our entire system begins to return to its natural state of balance. The benefits go far beyond a simple “walk in the park”—it is a profound recalibration of the mind, body, and spirit.
When we slow down in the company of trees, we may experience:
-
-
-
A Quiet Mind: A natural softening of stress, anxiety, and the “mental noise” of a hectic life, making room for greater focus and creative flow.
-
Emotional Resilience: A gentle lifting of the spirit—moving away from anger or exhaustion toward a sustained sense of peace and positive energy.
-
Physical Restoration: A deep “reset” for the nervous system that supports healthy sleep, stabilizes blood pressure, and brings harmony to our digestion and hormonal cycles.
-
Vitality & Defense: A measurable boost to the immune system, strengthening our body’s natural ability to protect and heal itself.
-
-
In short, nature connection provides the foundation for responding to life—the good stuff, the tough stuff, all of it—with a full “well” of well-being.
The Experience: What to Expect
Each “Into the Forest” journey is a unique co-creation between the group, the guide, and the land. While the specific theme and flow may shift with the seasons and the setting, your experience will be woven from a combination of some of these mindful invitations:
-
-
-
Somatic Movement: Mindful meandering and slow walking to synchronize your rhythm with the forest floor.
-
Guided Stillness: Group and solo meditations designed to quiet the “busy mind” and open the “sensory heart.”
-
Nature Immersion: Dedicated solo time to simply be with the trees, allowing the forest to offer its own unique mirrors and insights.
-
Creative Responding: Opportunities for journaling, eco-art, or creative expression to capture the “magic” of your discoveries.
-
Sacred Ritual: Elements of tea ceremony or rhythmic song to anchor our gratitude and connection.
-
-
A Note on Pace: Be prepared to slow yourself wayyyy down. In the company of the trees and a supportive circle of others, you will be invited to dive deeply into yourself, leaving behind the rush of the “outside” world to rediscover your own inner nature.

What happens when we blend nature with mindfulness?
Magic!
There is a profound difference between simply being in nature and truly connecting with it. Through purposeful, sensory exploration, we engage the mind, body, and heart to discover a deeper resonance with the living world.
Our journey follows the pathways to nature connectedness:
-
-
-
Sensing & Feeling: Engaging our senses and emotions to wake up to the present moment.
-
Beauty & Wonder: Receiving the forest’s gifts and expressing our gratitude.
-
Meaning & Compassion: Reflecting on our place within the greater web of life.
-
-
By deepening this connection, you are enhancing your own well-being and psychological resilience—much like tiny seeds planted in the soil, awaiting the right conditions to emerge and thrive.
