Is your child struggling with stress or other strong emotions? relationships/social skills?

Personal Coaching for children and families (ages 5-17)

Transformational Life Coaching (“TLC“) takes you from where your child/teen is to where you want your child/teen to be with extra Tender, Loving Care!

I will be your child’s guide to help him/her experience how mindful habits and attitudes can positively impact and support him/her in responding to the challenges which interfere with learning, relationships, and mental well-being (such as stress, anxiety, overwhelm, depression, anger, distraction, and impulsivity).

We’ll explore the inner world of thoughts, emotions, attitudes, and behaviors so your child can learn and practice the skills to feel empowered with the confidence for facing the challenges and stresses in life today by cultivating positive, healthy life skills and habits of mind and heart to feel more in control of challenging emotions and relationships at home, school, and in life!

Life Coaching * Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction * Cognitive Behavioral Therapy * and more!

  • Individualized, personalized coaching is provided according to your child’s challenges, needs, interests, and/or requests (or group coaching for families to learn together);
  • When appropriate, coaching may include any combination of evidence-based strategies and practices of mindfulness (i.e., breathing, relaxation & visualization techniques, attention training), emotional learning skill-building & neuroscience (emotions, the brain, and character development), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques, movement, yoga, journaling through art or writing;
  • “On-my-own practices” (OMOPs) will be assigned in between sessions and are an essential component of TLC Coaching;
  • We will meet online via Zoom OR at my home studio (outside on my back deck until pandemic precautions are lifted or if everyone is vaccinated) in Los Osos, CA.

Give your child an edge to succeed academically and socially

with a whole new set of life skills…

Mindful * Kindful * Peaceful!

I create a safe, supportive, and accepting environment to help children/teens feel confident to try new things, discover their inner resources, and reach new heights in mental and emotional well-being grounded in science and positive psychology using mindfulness and cognitive behavioral therapy techniques! “Medication is often prescribed for children with anxiety, as it is for adults. Antidepressants often helps reduce anxiety. But what many people don’t know is that cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) can be very effective for kids who are anxious. In fact, research over more than 20 years has shown that CBT is the most effective treatment for reducing symptoms of severe anxiety. And unlike taking medication, the therapy gives children the tools to manage the anxiety themselves, now and in the future.” (1)

The science and research is confirming

the powerful and transformational benefits of mindfulness and social-emotional learning for youth!

Your child/teen will come to learn that experiences don’t have to overwhelm them and they can learn to remain calm and centered through life’s ups and downs. These positive experiences will transform, not only inner peace and happiness, but also social dynamics at school, at home, and in the community! These are skills for life!

Nothing gives me greater pleasure than providing youth with the skills I wish I learned when I was growing up! Check out my blog “I see you…” on anxiety.

Who else might benefit? Does your child have high “always on the move” energy? Challenges with self-regulation and impulse control? Obsessed with video gaming*? Your child may also be a great candidate for personal coaching to address these challenges. *DID YOU KNOW? Video game addiction is officially a mental health disorder

As a result of the pandemic, TLC Coaching is no longer requiring a commitment to a fixed plan or length of time per session. You can make appointments  “as needed” or you can make regular appointments – weekly, or every other week, or once a month. We can even break up appointments into smaller chunks – for example, two 15 minutes appointments, based on what you need, each time we meet. Obviously the more time invested, overall, the more you will get out of it. Time invested includes the suggested “On-my-own practices” (OMOPs) which are an integral part of the coaching experience.

Fees are $45 per 30 minute session. Fees are charged by the session, however, please know these fees include some of the additional preparation time for creating individualized plans, follow-up practice assignments, and communication.

“Dee DiGioia has a sensible, kind, and effective approach in working with children. Her manner and techniques seem tailor-made to fit the unique child she meets in her sessions. After 12 sessions with my daughter, I heard beautiful and self-affirming statements and behavior from my daughter at random moments where she was able to relax herself instead of succumbing to anxiety. It has been helpful for her to expand her toolkit for calming herself. The other day I saw her keyed up and she began tapping her fingers together in a purposeful sequence that {Dee} showed her. It worked! We recommend Dee wholeheartedly.” ~M.L.A., parent

“Concern over my daughter’s perfectionist tendencies led me to contact Dee DiGioia regarding mindfulness coaching.  While initially resistive and skeptical, my daughter has come to enjoy and benefit from the sessions.  Dee is a kind, caring, and energetic teacher who employs a variety of approaches, including discussion, music, visualization, and movement.  My daughter is learning tools and techniques to calm and quiet her mind, as well as developing self-acceptance, compassion, and gratitude.  I believe that what she is gaining from the sessions will serve her well on many levels and stages of her life. ~CT

“She walked in (to school) confident and happy! Hugged me and ran off, best first day departure yet! Thank you for helping her grow with confidence and become empowered as a young lady!” – SG

“S— was having a friend over to play yesterday and she told her dad to tell her she ‘had’ to do yoga before they could play video games. She said to act like it was his requirement. So funny. I really do see an improvement in S—‘s ability to control her reactions and I really appreciate your classes.” -GR
The child mentioned above received personal coaching to manage difficult emotions and life circumstances. She found a way to interact with her friends in a way that helps her feel good!
“We’ve been having lots of good conversations about “George” around here (note- the name she gave to her amygdala).  On the way home from your session (she) said she thinks “George” gets worried when he’s not worrying – because he might miss something.  I thought that was pretty insightful.  We’ve also been doing more breathing together as a family.  I think {she} is really enjoying it.  And, we all love the book – thanks for letting us borrow it.  I think we might need our own! I also talked to one of my young adult clients about their amygdala after this session and they drew it and named it and reported a few days later that it was really helpful!  So it’s been helpful on a number of levels!” ~SH

“Dee is wise, thoughtful, and her insights are empowering. I was impressed not only with the affordable pricing structure, but by the genuine caring attitude. I can tell she is in this to make a real difference for her clients, instead of just punching the clock. That’s the kind of coaching I was looking for. I’m going to refer my teen-aged students to her programs as well. With a free consultation, it’s easy to see if this kind of counseling is a fit for you.” ~ BT

My roles have varied over the years as a speech-language therapist, preschool director, bullying prevention specialist, and Mindfulness and Life Skills Coach, to name a few. My studies have included specialized learning and training in areas including cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma, anxiety, sensory challenges, life coaching, autism, bullying, and so much more. I have worked with large groups, small groups, and individuals for 35+ years serving youth with social, emotional, behavioral, and communication challenges. I have pioneered bullying intervention mindfulness programs in schools in Northern CA before moving here to the Central Coast of CA.  And I have created Individualized Education Plans (IEP’s) for youth to meet their individual needs. “TLC” lesson content for one child may look quite different than for another child, based on their individual needs, personalities, and developmental levels. That’s what makes this home program so YOUnique!

The symbolism of the dragonfly aligns with the intentions of Mindful Kindful YOUniversity. The dragonfly is often associated with transformation, wisdom, adaptability, resilience, and power. The dragonfly begins its life submerged under water as a nymph and endures many obstacles and challenges before emerging as the revered and beautiful dragonfly. As we shed any negative or unskillful patterns of limiting thoughts, behaviors, and habits, then we are growing our “wings” and are empowered to experience a whole new way of living in happiness, health, wisdom, and well-being. This is our true nature. May you be Mindful * Kindful * Peaceful * Skillful!
