About Mindfulness

In the late 1970’s Jon Kabat Zinn brought recognition to mindfulness because of his research programs with Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction programs which yielded positive results and are still being widely taught and practiced today by athletes, emergency responders, business corporations, in mental health, and more. Mindfulness only recently began catching on in the field of education in the late 90’s in classrooms here and there, but the momentum has really picked up in the last few years, school-wide and district wide, for students and staff alike.

My certification training through Mindful Schools and my years of experience in education and working with youth has ignited my passion to share the essential life skills of mindfulness with children, educators, parents… everyone! I have no doubt how living mindfully can change lives regardless of age. It has helped me personally, as well as professionally with my students, colleagues, and parents. I have seen first-hand the benefits others have experienced after teaching it in a variety of ways, including pioneering a mindfulness program at an inner city elementary school for K-5 students; integrating it in my therapy work with special needs children of all ages; and in teaching at the adult level.
