About Mindfulness

In the late 1970’s Jon Kabat Zinn brought recognition to Mindfulness because of his research programs with Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction programs which brought such positive results and are still being widely taught and practiced today. Mindfulness only recently began catching on in the field of education in the late 90’s in classrooms here and there. In the last few years it is becoming part of entire schools and district wide.

My certification training through Mindful Schools and my years of experience in education and working with youth has ignited my passion to share the essential life skills of mindfulness with children, educators, parents… everyone! I have no doubt how living mindfully can change lives regardless of age. It has helped me personally, as well as professionally with my students, colleagues, and parents. I have seen first-hand the benefits others have experienced after teaching it in a variety of ways including pioneering a mindfulness program at an inner city elementary school for K-5 students; integrating it in my therapy work with special needs children of all ages; and in teaching at the adult level.
